About the event
Three choreographic storytellers bask in the light of their unspoken conversation, with a varied soundtrack threading each artist’s journey. Can We Dance Here? is that wordless exchange.
Soles of Duende features the percussive sounds of tap (Amanda Castro), Spanish flamenco (Arielle Rosales), and kathak Indian classical dance (Brinda Guha) in a multicultural, rhythmic example of how visual performing arts can speak volumes without saying a word. The artists embody their people’s history and use their cultures’ rhythms as a universal language.
Bonded by their love of music, their crafts, and true connection, Soles of Duende’s move is to elevate the joy and music in group celebration of their cultural histories and dance styles.
“When it comes to music, the one thing we do share? The floor … the floor lets us share our cultures across bars,” the ensemble says.
